In today’s modern and competitive world, it is our duty as academicians to help the students to secure a bright future. With this in mind, we have formed the cell for Career Counseling. In fact, we offer a free-of-charge, one year Certificate Course in Career Counseling and Self Employment for the students of T.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.Com. and T.Y.B.Com.
Our college has a committee that looks after Counseling and Career Guidance. The committee does the following activities for career guidance to students:
• Arrange experts lectures to give vocational guidance to the students.
• Arrange Coaching Classes for the competitive exams like GPSC UPSC CAT etc.
• Provide reading materials for the students from the Library for such examinations.
• The students also get counseling in their problems. The counseling is mostly done in the Psychology Lab.
• Skill based courses for computer literacy and English improvement Career building magazines, periodicals, books like Employment News, Rojgar Samachar, Career Digest, Liberty Career guide etc. are made available for students Collaboration with College Management Placement cell and Deepchand Gardi Chair, H.N.G.U.
• The activities conducted here include interactive sessions with expert counselors from diverse fields, Psychometric testing for a thorough self-analysis, one-day workshops and guidance by members from various faculties.
• The students are provided information regarding various career and placement opportunities with the help of notices, posters and cut outs of advertisements.
• Students are informed about various competitive exams like UPSC, GPSC, NET, SLET, Railways, Banks, LIC, etc, and are guided for a thorough preparation.
Placement Officer
In fact there is a committee of three members for the Career Counseling and Self Employment in the college. Dr. A. K. Tadvi and Dr. D. K. Soni, are in charge of the Career Counseling Cell and the Certificate Course. She is actively engaged in this field. It is her duty too:
• Organize and facilitate conducting of lectures and workshops, inviting experts from various fields for lectures
• Organize counselling and workshops by professional career counsellors.
• Provide information about career and placement opportunities.
• Help our students to get jobs in any other institute run by our Management.
Certificate Course
The goals are to see that our students acquire all the skills and knowledge required for respectable jobs in life and that they also learn certain values to become good citizens. To achieve these objectives we have started certain programmes like Certificate Course in Computing, and certificate course like SCOPE (Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English). Appearing in SCOPE exam is made compulsory for all students offering English as their special/core subject. SCOPE is a course at the completion of which an internationally recognized certificate by the Cambridge University is issued. SCOPE is a Government of Gujarat initiative for proficiency in English among students. Skill Development is also attempted with English Proficiency Club. For others, a course in Communicative English is started free of charge. Similar courses in Hindi, Gujarati and Sanskrit are designed for proficiency in those languages. For value education expert lectures are organized.
