E-resources and Techniques Used by Our Institute
- N-List
The Project entitled “National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)”, is being jointly executed by the e-Shodh Sindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi provides i) cross-subscription to e-resources subscribed by the two Consortia, i.e. subscription to INDEST-AICTE resources for universities and e-Shodh Sindhu resources for technical institutions; and ii) access to selected e-resources to colleges. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server which is installed at the INFLIBNET Centre. The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website once they are duly registered as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre.
- E-Study Materials
Most of the college teachers cater the study materials to the students through blogs allotted to each department in college website. Every teacher is given individual space to upload his/her study materials inclusive of notes, materials for extra reading, Question papers of the past years, videos related to syllabus etc.
- e-library (CD / DVD)
The college has a rich e-library with a storage of more than 900 video files. The files are available for students in the computers in the library. They are free to use them in the library or take away the required copies of the same.
- Shodhganga
The Shodhganga@INFLIBNET is set-up using an open source digital repository software called D Space developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in partnership between Hewlett- Packard (HP). The D Space uses internationally recognized protocols and inter-operability standards. Shodhganga provides a platform for research scholars to deposit their Ph.D. theses and make it available to the entire scholarly community in open access. The repository has the ability to capture, index, store, disseminate and preserve ETDs (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) submitted by the researchers.
- e-PG-Pathshala
e-PGPathshala is an initiative of the MHRD under its National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT) being executed by the UGC. The content and its quality being the key component of education system, high quality, curriculum-based, interactive e-content in 70 subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, arts, fine arts and humanities, natural & mathematical sciences, linguistics and languages have been developed by the subject experts working in Indian universities and other R & D institutes across the country. Every subject had a team of principal investigator, paper coordinators, content writers, content reviewers, Language editors and multimedia team.
- National Digital Library (NDL)
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDL India is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for leading Indian languages. It is being arranged to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular form of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is being developed to help students to prepare for entrance and competitive examination, to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. The pilot project is devising a framework that is being scaled up with respect to content volume and diversity to serve all levels and disciplines of learners. It is being developed at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
- Swayam
SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
This is done through an indigenous developed IT platform that facilitates hosting of all the courses, taught in classrooms from 9th class till post-graduation to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. All the courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and are available, free of cost to the residents in India. More than 1,000 specially chosen faculty and teachers from across the Country have participated in preparing these courses.
The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants – (1) video lecture, (2) specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed (3) self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and (4) an online discussion forum for clearing the doubts. Steps have been taken to enrich the learning experience by using audio-video and multi-media and state of the art pedagogy / technology. In order to ensure best quality content are produced and delivered, nine National Coordinators have been appointed: They are AICTE for self-paced and international courses, NPTEL for engineering, UGC for non technical post-graduation education, CEC for under-graduate education, NCERT & NIOS for school education, IGNOU for out of the school students, IIMB for management studies and NITTTR for Teacher Training programme.
- Sandhan (BISAG-Gujarat)
The entire world today has entered a new era of technology led quality education. Technology has today become an integral part of education in the western world. A similar trend is also seen in India. The Govt. of Gujarat has acknowledged the need to enable teachers in higher education to make optimum use of ICT in their classrooms. A need is seen to bring about innovation in the educational sector, breaking from the chalk and talk method and introducing Audio-Visual aids and extending their use in imparting education becomes an obvious solution. It is thus that “SANDHAN” has been created. It provides an extensive platform for the use of Audio-Visual tools for the telecast of lectures in an innovative and interesting manner. It also provides an opportunity to students across state to be connected highly acclaimed academicians. It thus adds enormous value to the conventional system rendering it more updated and enjoyable for students.
- CEC-You-tube
The Consortium for Educational Communication popularly known as CEC is one of the Inter University Centers set up by the University Grants Commission of India. It has been established with the goal of addressing the needs of Higher Education through the use of powerful medium of Television along with the appropriate use of emerging Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Close Coordination, facilitation, overall guidance and direction towards the activities of the Media Centres set up by the UGC in various Universities throughout the country. Dissemination of Educational programmes through broadcast as well as non-broadcast modes. Production of Educational programmes (Audio/Visual and Web Based) and related support material further setting up of appropriate facilities for such production. Research activities related to optimizing the effectiveness of such programmes. Providing a forum for the active involvement of academic and other scholars in the creation of appropriate educational programmes. Studying, promoting & experimenting with new technology that will increase the reach and / or effectiveness of educational communication.
- Google Classroom
Google Classroom is a free web service developed by Google for schools that aim to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.
- College Youtube Channel
College has a live Youtube channel of her own. Most of the activities taking place in the college are uploaded to Youtube as a routine practice. The students also get latest updates regarding the upcoming events in the college.
- Old Question Papers
College guides the students towards an access to old papers of examinations. Some of the teachers also provide papers on their blog in the website. This papers can be useful to the students to prepare themselves for the upcoming exams.
